TransLemon · Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-08-31
TransLemon is designed to collect as little as possible and keep it as briefly as possible.
1. What we do NOT collect
- No accounts: no name, email, phone number, or identity data.
- No precise location, contacts, or bulk photo-library access.
- No third-party advertising or behavioral-analytics SDKs.
2. What we process
- Anonymous device ID: a random UUID generated on install, used only for free-quota accounting, subscription entitlement, and abuse prevention. Not linked to your identity.
- Photos you choose to translate: uploaded for text recognition and translation. The server deletes the photo immediately after processing (a scheduled cleanup additionally guarantees photos and recognized text are purged within about 1 hour), keeping only content-free metadata (record ID, languages, timestamps, a ~32-pixel blurred thumbnail). Full records live only on your device and can be deleted in History at any time.
- AI processing: photo content is transiently sent to OCR/translation providers (Google Cloud Vision, Google Gemini, Groq) solely to perform that translation; these providers do not train models on API data.
- Conversation voice: while you hold the talk button, the app records your speech; when you release it, the recording is sent through our server to Google Vertex AI (Gemini models) to transcribe and translate it, and the translated text is sent to Google Cloud Text-to-Speech to generate the spoken translation, solely to perform that translation; Google does not train models on API data. Our server stores no recordings, translated audio, or translated text — it records only content-free metering data per utterance (duration, model usage) for quota and cost accounting. Original and translated audio live only on your device, capped at the most recent 100 entries; older ones are deleted automatically.
- Subscriptions: purchases and billing are handled by Apple. We receive only Apple-signed transaction tokens (no payment details) to activate your quota.
- Feedback (optional): only when you explicitly submit feedback and check the authorization box, that record's photo and translation are sent to us for troubleshooting.
3. Retention & deletion
- Photos and recognized text: deleted on completion, within ~1 hour at the latest.
- Conversation audio: never stored on the server; on-device history keeps the most recent 100 entries and deletes older ones automatically.
- Content-free metadata, usage metering data, and entitlement records: retained for accounting and abuse prevention.
- On-device history: fully under your control.
